Discounts galore for seniors in 2019

Monday, 17 December 2018

From today, over 380,000 South Australian Seniors Card members can access more discounts than ever thanks to the new 2019 Discount Directory Your Lifestyle Guide.

Jeanette Walters, the Director of Intergovernmental Relations and Ageing, said the new directory has hundreds of discounts on offer, ranging from travel, home and garden, shoes and clothing to fitness, education, retail and recreational activities.

“The directory is a great way for South Australian seniors to be active and connect with their wider community,” Ms Walters said.

“Members can be inspired to try out a new hobby, dine out at a new restaurant or learn a new skill.

“This year we have discounts on offer from 767 business partners, which is more than we’ve ever had and there are 6,870 outlets offering discounts.

“We’re grateful for each and every one of these businesses for making it possible to provide so many great offers to the over-60’s.”

Importantly, the 2019 guide features more practical information about technology and online safety, concessions, planning ahead, energy saving, and consumer advice like buying a car or house, ladder safety, online shopping, refunds and scams.

The Directory also showcases original photographs submitted by Seniors Card members in the 2018 Through the Lens photographic competition.

The cover of the new directory features the winning photo of Ellie the owl, taken by David Munro.

Seniors Card members can pick up a copy of your Lifestyle Guide from one of 400 collection points across South Australia or online at www.sa.gov.au/seniorscard.

The online directory features interactive functions for easy navigation to each business partner’s website.

Permanent South Australian residents aged over 60 and working less than 20 hours per week in paid employment are eligible to be a South Australian Seniors Card member.

The Seniors Card Unit can be contacted at seniorscard@sa.gov.au or by calling 1800 819 961.
