COVID Cases in SA
There have been 2,715 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 17,144 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm one man in his 70s, a man and a woman in their 80s, and two women in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 234 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 132 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 82 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 20 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

The latest genome sampling from 1 to 23 May has found 98.8% of samples taken were BA.2.

Yesterday, 6,981 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 12.1% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,309 PCR tests were positive, while 1,406 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Currently 95.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.8% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.6% of eligible South Australians and 67.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
