COVID Cases in SA

There have been 1,953 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 25,735 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 50s, a man in his 70s, two men in their 80s, two men in their 90s, two women in their 60s, two women in their 70s, one woman in her 80s and two women in their 90s who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The 13 new deaths notified since the last report include reconciled data of death notifications from the last two weeks.

There are 288 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 27 people in ICU and five people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 168 people are fully vaccinated, 41 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 79 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases have been readjusted.

Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 95% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 10,236 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 24% decrease on the previous 24 hours.

Vaccination update

Currently 94% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 90.5% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 54.3% of eligible South Australians and 36.5% of South Australians aged 18+.
