COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,500 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 28,991 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm three men in their 70s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 246 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 10 people in ICU, and two people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 166 people are fully vaccinated, 67 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 13 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found around 93% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 11,210 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 13.7% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 3,070 PCR tests were positive, while 1,430 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 95.4% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.5% of eligible South Australians and 65.1% of South Australians aged 16+.
