COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,395 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 25,629 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two women in their 80s, one woman in her 90s and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 246 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 120 people had received three or more vaccine doses and 126 people are either unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

   *One death reported earlier has been reclassified and has been removed from the total.

Variants

The latest genome sampling from 1 to 15 May has found 99% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 12,064 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 1.5% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,415 PCR tests were positive, while 1,980 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 95.7% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.7% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.3% of eligible South Australians and 66.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
