Changes to Country Health SA

Country Health SA LHN will continue in its current form until the Local Health Networks (LHNs) and Governing Boards become fully operational from 1 July 2019.

Planning for the transition process will occur over the coming months. Staff and their representatives will be involved in this process.

Amendments to establish the Governing Boards under the Health Care Act 2008 were passed by Parliament on 26 July 2018 in the Health Care (Governance) Amendment Bill 2018. These amendments will come into operation on 1 July 2019.

The amendments enabled the establishment of six new incorporated country hospitals (Local Health Networks), which cover the same boundaries as the current Country Health SA regions.

Six new regional Local Health Networks (LHNs)

The new regional LHNs are:

Regional LHN Chief Executive Officers

CEOs have been appointed for each of the six regional LHNs. Visit the Regional LHN Chief Executive Officers page for more information.

Health Advisory Councils (HACs)

The future roles and functions of the 39 country HACs, and how they can best operate within the new governance framework, will be discussed with HAC members over the course of these reforms.
