Governance reforms - project governance

The Governance Reform Oversight Committee, chaired by SA Health Chief Executive Chris McGowan, oversees the planning of SA Health’s governance arrangements.

As Chair of the Committee, Chris is working with senior leaders in SA Health and from across Government to plan a staged approach to the reforms.

Discussions to steer system design planning have commenced. A program management committee, chaired by Don Frater, Deputy Chief Executive, will manage projects with regular reports to the Oversight Committee.

An integral part of the planning process will be engaging with staff and stakeholders as we consider what changes are required for SA Health’s new governance model.

We will do this by establishing clinical and consumer reference groups, and by engaging industrial representatives and Health Advisory Councils.

These reforms will ultimately lead to more decision making at the local level, which will allow us to be more responsive to the needs of local communities and deliver better value for our patients.
