Registered Nurse and Midwife Renewal Program

Early Retirement Scheme (2019)

Workforce renewal is a commitment under the Nursing/Midwifery (South Australian Public Sector) Enterprise Agreement 2016 (NMEA 2016) and is designed to address the current and future nursing and midwifery workforce requirements of the public health system.

SA Health’s Registered Nurse and/or Midwife Renewal Program (NMRP1) – is also to be known as the Early Retirement Scheme (2019).

Registered Nurses/Midwives (RN/M Level 1 and Level 2) substantively employed in an ’in scope‘ clinical area with 10 or more continuous years’ service with SA Health, and who are aged 60 years and over, may apply for a once off incentive payment of $50,000 (pro rata for part time) to retire early.

This opportunity is offered on a voluntary basis and it is up to ‘in-scope‘ registered nurses/midwives (RN/Ms) to decide if they would like to nominate for the Scheme or not.

Employees considering an offer of the $50,000 incentive payment should obtain personal independent taxation, financial and superannuation advice specific to their personal circumstances.

Please refer below for detailed eligibility criteria.

It is expected that all RN/Ms that are considering applying for the Scheme read the Fact Sheet 1 NMRP1 Early Retirement Scheme's (2019) (PDF 544KB) to fully understand how the Scheme is to be applied and the individual’s responsibilities in applying for and accepting an offer.

A combination of full time and part time RN/Ms Level 1, Years 1 and 2 ongoing positions are available across both metropolitan Adelaide and Country South Australia to applicants who meet the recruitment eligibility criteria.
