healthdirect can help you manage your health and connects you with the right care in the right place for your health issues.

You will speak with a registered nurse who asks a series of questions about your condition and then guides you to the care you need in the right place for your situation and location, including:

  • advice and support to manage a health issue safely at home
  • advice to use an appropriate, available local health service, including a patient’s regular General Practitioner (GP)
  • a consultation with a General Practitioner (GP) by phone or video call-back
  • connection to the South Australia Virtual Care Service (SAVCS)
  • connection to Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service (CAVUC)
  • being called an ambulance or directed to the nearest emergency department, when appropriate.

Use healthdirect’s online symptom checker if you’re feeling unwell.

Answer some questions about your symptoms and get advice on whether to rest at home, see a doctor, go to an Emergency Department or call an ambulance. The symptom checker is available online at any time.
