General and Gastrointestinal Surgical (GGIS) Services at Flinders Medical Centre

The General and Gastro-Intestinal Unit is a unit at Flinders Medical Centre and include surgeons from the previous Repatriation General Hospital and current Noarlunga Hospital. The unit provides services across both the Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Hospital, for inpatient and outpatient services, endoscopy and colonoscopy and is rostered to be on call to receive emergency patients and trauma for general surgery.

There are four surgeons on the unit and they cover all general surgery conditions like abdominal and groin hernias, gallbladder problems, lymph node and muscle biopsies. We also have a special interest in colorectal conditions like the treatment of cancer and polyps of the colon and rectum, and in complex abdominal wall hernias.
