SAMI Mobile Imaging Service

The South Australia Medical Imaging (SAMI) Mobile Imaging Service is a hospital avoidance initiative providing quality and accessible health care to patients at their residence with a focus on Residential Aged Care Facilities, Disability, Mental Health and Correctional Facilities. This model of care allows patients to receive imaging within a familiar and safe environment, minimising disruption to patients, their families and carers caused by the transfer to health care facilities.

The SAMI Mobile Imaging Service supports SA Health’s commitment to ease pressures on emergency departments, and the South Australian Ambulance Service (SAAS), reducing the need for ambulance transfers and emergency department presentations where care can be provided within the community.

The SAMI Mobile Imaging Service provides mobile x-ray imaging to patients across metropolitan Adelaide and beyond with no out-of-pocket expense for patients or their care facilities for Medicare eligible patients.
