The Bystander Action for Ageing Well module was developed to meet a community need for education and training on the issue of ageism, how it can be addressed, and strategies to challenge it.

The training package for a two-part workshop invites participants to explore the issue of ageism in Australia – how it manifests, its impacts, and uncovering and debunking myths and stereotypes. It aims to develop understanding of community members’ role in calling out ageism and provides strategies for how to challenge ageism safely, appropriately and effectively.

It highlights the desirability of taking an active role in tackling ageism, rather than being a passive bystander.

A Facilitator’s Guide and accompanying slide deck can be used by anyone to deliver the training.

The training module was developed for Office for Ageing Well by Gender Equity Solutions, in partnership with City of Adelaide.
