Some visitor restrictions remain in place to protect the safety and welfare of people in our hospital and health services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The below restrictions are a guideline online. Check with the individual hospital or health service for local visitor information before you visit.

Visitor restrictions

Visitors should not enter a hospital or residential care facility if they are have COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days.

Metropolitan Local Health Network hospitals

From Thursday 1 September 2022, the following visitor guidelines apply to all metropolitan Local Health Network hospital sites (if physical distancing requirements can be met):

  • No visitor restrictions on adult and paediatric hospital inpatients
  • No visitor restrictions on palliative care, end of life or critically unwell inpatients
  • A limit of 2 visitors for COVID-19 positive inpatients
  • A limit of 1 visitor for adult and paediatric emergency and outpatient departments
  • A limit of 2 visitors for delivery and postnatal wards
  • Adult ICU will follow standard unit protocol – check with the unit before visiting
  • A limit of 2 visitors for neonates/neonatal ICU inpatients
  • A limit of 2 visitors for paediatric ICU inpatients
  • A limit of 2 visitors for children’s oncology ward inpatients
