COVID-19 Clinics and Testing Centres

Visit the Testing for COVID-19 page for information on who is eligible to get tested and how (including information for people entering SA from NSW, ACT or Victoria). If you meet the criteria for testing for COVID-19, there are a range of testing options available.

You do not need a referral to visit most dedicated COVID-19 and Respiratory clinics.

You may require a 'referral form’ from your GP to access drive-through and home testing services.

Metropolitan testing

Respiratory clinics (no referral required, by appointment)

Respiratory clinics test anyone with symptoms. They do not test interstate arrivals with no symptoms who are required to get tested. Covered by Medicare, all ages, bookings essential:

  • Adelaide - Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi, access via Wakefield Road (left-hand turn only) (8.00 am to 6.00 pm, 7 days). For cars and motorbikes only (no walk-ins or cyclists).
  • Aldinga GP Plus Health Care Centre, Pridham Boulevard (8.00 am to 4.00 pm, 7 days). For cars and motorbikes only (no walk-ins or cyclists).
  • Daw Park - Repat Health Precinct, 216 Daws Rd (8.00 am to 4.30 pm, 7 Days). For cars and motorbikes only (no walk-ins or cyclists).
  • Northfield - Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre, 207-235 Hampstead Road (8.00 am to 4.30 pm, 7 Days). For cars and motorbikes only (no walk-ins or cyclists).
  • Port Adelaide - Harts Mill Car Park, Mundy Street (8.30 am to 4.00 pm, 7 days). SA Pathology mobile testing vans. Capacity is limited.

Essential Worker drive-through testing

SA Pathology’s mobile collection services provides free COVID-19 testing for interstate truck drivers and interstate travellers requiring swabs. No booking required.

Cost of COVID-19 tests

There is no cost to Medicare eligible patients for COVID-19 testing if you are tested at SA Health or PHN facilities.

Private providers may charge a gap for COVID-19 testing.

Overseas residents who fall ill in Australia (and are not eligible for Medicare) often have health or travel insurance. For those who do not have adequate insurance coverage, SA Health COVID-19 testing clinics will waive the costs of diagnosis (tests) and treatment of coronavirus (COVID-19).
