Creating a Therapeutic Alliance workshop

Therapeutic alliance is about listening and responding to consumer’s emotions, needs and wishes. When we use a person centred approach this helps us identify the key characteristics that are at the core of good outcomes.

The therapeutic relationship is fundamental to mental health practice then engagement is the process that defines how that relationship evolves and sets out strategies to guide practice.

An intermediate course suitable for mental health clinicians

Course length and delivery method

3 hours.

Available by Zoom or face to face.

Outcomes

This course will explore the following key areas:

developing strategies for improving therapeutic interpersonal relationships
how therapeutic engagement influences interpersonal relationships.
managing your own emotions
the importance of empathy and understanding
provide a safe environment
validate and acknowledge the consumer
building rapport and engagement skills
creating therapeutic relationships with the consumer at the centre of care

Cost

$60.00 + GST
$0 for all SA Health workforce
$0 for all students on placement with SA Health

An administration fee of $25.00 will apply to all participants if you do not attend without notice on the day, or cancel within 24 hours of the course commencing.
