Workshop aims

The Working with Uncertainty: How to work and engage effectively during COVID-19 workshop is designed for clinical staff working within government and non-government settings. Understanding the impact of COVID-19 on our personal lives and those who we care for has required working within the constraints of the virus; namely physical distancing, strict hygiene practices and significant lifestyle change. This online workshop will cover aspects of how we can work effectively, safely and within the boundaries set by COVID-19 looking at coping styles and strategies including being psychologically flexible as well as how we can encourage our clients to reflect and utilise these skills.

Learning outcomes

Participants will learn about:

  • Understanding the COVID-19 context
    • physical distancing
    • self-isolation
    • therapeutic infection control
  • Exploring ways of coping with COVID-19 including
    • self-help
    • protective mindset
    • behaviours
  • Developing effective communication techniques that promote reflection, curiosity and insights
  • Developing assessment and monitoring skills in regard to client coping strategies
  • Building knowledge of relevant therapeutic approaches and their application (including telehealth)
  • Relevant online resources and support materials.
