Suitable for mental health clinicians
3 ½ hour Zoom or face to face course
Facilitated by SA Mental Health Training Centre. See Mental health training calendar page for workshop dates.
The Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) - Introduction workshop is aimed at clinicians with little or no previous knowledge of CBT. Participants learn basic knowledge and learn skills that may be useful in their clinical setting.
CBT comprises a range of cognitive and/or behavioural interventions that have often proven to be the psychological treatment of choice for a wide range of mental health issues.
The course explores how to begin to address maladaptive forms of thinking and/or behaviour; it will cover the basics of CBT, the ABC (activating event, beliefs and consequences) model and explore basic interventions (for example disputation, behavioural interventions, including useful approaches, tools and techniques).
