Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) is now a reality thanks to the launch of ScriptCheckSA across South Australia.

Registration and access to the online training modules can be accessed on the ScriptCheckSA portal.

How to register

Watch this short video for information on how to register and log into ScriptCheckSA for the first time. You’ll find more detailed information in the Registering for ScriptCheckSA and Logging into ScriptCheckSA fact sheets.

ScriptCheckSA Demonstration

To learn more about how to use ScriptCheckSA, watch a recorded demonstration that highlights some of the key features of the system. You can also refer to the Demonstration Workshop Q&A’s (PDF 268KB) with answers to questions raised during this session.

How you access the information in ScriptCheckSA depends on how you write or dispense monitored drug prescriptions.

If your clinical software is connected to a Prescription Exchange Service (PES) and has National Data Exchange (NDE) functionality enabled:

  • You will receive pop-up notifications during your prescribing or dispensing event, and
  • You can access the information in ScriptCheckSA by clicking through the link in the notification

If your clinical software is connected to a PES but does not have NDE functionality:

  • You can download the Notification App which will allow you to receive pop-up notifications immediately after your prescribing or dispensing event, and
  • You can access the information in ScriptCheckSA by clicking through the link in the notification

If your clinical software is not connected to a PES, or you are a prescriber who handwrites prescriptions:

  • You can access the information in ScriptCheckSA via the online web portal or by contacting the DDU via phone (1300 652 584) or email HealthDrugsofDependenceUnit@sa.gov.au.
  • You will not receive real-time pop-up notifications if accessing ScriptCheckSA via the online web portal, but you will see all the relevant information, including alerts when you are logged in.

For a list of clinical software that is connected to a PES and has NDE functionality, refer to the resource Clinical software integrated with the NDE (PDF 237KB). Your clinical software provider will be able to provide you with guidance on whether your clinical software is connected to a PES and if it has NDE functionality.
