The Department for Health and Wellbeing offers an Aboriginal Health Scholarship Program in partnership with Australian Rotary Health. The program aims to increase the number of professionally qualified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in the South Australian health sector. The scholarship program is in its 24th year of operation and provides up to $5,000 per year for full time study ($2,500 for part-time study) for each recipient.
Congratulations to the graduates and new scholarship recipients of the 2023 Aboriginal Health Scholarship Program. Graduates and recipients were presented with their certificates by the Minister for Health and Wellbeing at a presentation ceremony on Thursday 11 May 2023. See all the recipients (PDF 223KB).
Applications for the 2024 program will open in November 2023 and will be advertised on SA Health Careers.
Applicants must be residents of South Australia, provide Confirmation of Aboriginality from an Aboriginal organisation, and be enrolled in a health related course such as, but not limited to:
Sponsoring SA Rotary Clubs provide individual support to scholars who are expected to attend a sponsoring Rotary Club meeting to share their learning experiences of their chosen health course.
