Physiotherapy at NALHN
NALHN Physiotherapy service supports patients to gain or regain function through direct intervention, education and equipment provision.
Aims
Our service aims to restore function to the body or to minimise dysfunction or functional decline following an illness, disease or injury through a combination of education, manual therapy, movement re-education, and physical intervention.
Services
Services are provided to hospital patients and outpatients who require physiotherapy services that are not available in the community or specialty services such as lymphoedema, continence and vestibular physiotherapy.
Services include:
- assessment of patient’s functional ability, impairment and medical history
- identification of areas for functional improvement and collaborative goal setting
- treatment and evaluation of patient’s progress towards goals
- education and training of families, carers and other staff in understanding the nature of patients’ deficits and their role in the optimal management of these
