Version 1.0 approved 23 December 2024

The Driving Safe Policy (PDF 337KB) provides the mandatory requirements to effectively manage risks associated with work-related driving and support SA Health workplaces to comply with the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA) and the Road Traffic Act 1961 (SA).

Applicability

This policy applies to all employees and contracted staff of SA Health; that is all employees and contracted staff of the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW), Local Health Networks (LHNs) including state-wide services aligned with those Networks and SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).

The policy requirements must be considered for inclusion in contracts and/or agreements for labour hire agency staff, contractors, volunteers, and students on clinical placements.

For the purposes of this Policy a ‘workplace’ includes any vehicle that is used to conduct work or services for SA Health. This includes Fleet SA vehicles; vehicles owned, leased, or hired by SA Health; and any private or contracted vehicle whilst being used in the course of SA Health work-related activities.

This policy does not supersede the requirements of any Fleet SA policy or procedure.
