Budget Management Policy

The Budget Management Policy (PDF 294KB) provides the mandatory requirements in relation to the budgetary management and coordination within SA Health to ensure robust, transparent, and responsible budgetary management practice, in line with the Public Finance and Audit Act 1987, Treasurer’s Instructions, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
Applicability
This policy applies to all employees and contracted staff of SA Health; that is all employees and contracted staff of the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW), Local Health Networks (LHNs) including Statewide services aligned with those Networks and SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).
Specifically, this policy applies to all employees and contracted staff who are involved in the budget setting process incorporating the initial budget load and ongoing budget variations.
Out of scope
The Funding and Commission Activity section of the Service Agreement between DHW and the LHNs (Service Agreement) provides the budget allocation, methodologies, and decisions for LHNs, and therefore is out of scope for this policy.
