You may enrol in any SA Health-approved postgraduate training course, as listed on the SA Health website.

Note: Training courses provided using Commonwealth Supported Places are not eligible for the SA Government community pharmacist training subsidy.

Subsidies cannot be deferred or held for future use.

You must enrol in a SA Health-approved postgraduate training course, pay for at least one semester, and claim the first instalment of the subsidy by the 1st of June within the same financial year (i.e. before 1 June 2027).

Yes. Individual pharmacists may self-fund their postgraduate qualification. You can enrol in any SA Health-approved training course and, once completed, apply for authorisation to provide Community Pharmacy Expanded Scope of Practice services in South Australia.

Yes, you will be eligible to apply for another round.

You will need to re-apply for subsequent rounds - submissions to previous rounds cannot be considered.

No. To be eligible for the training subsidy, you must hold unconditional general registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and have been employed as a pharmacist by a community pharmacy in South Australia for a minimum of six months.

Online applications can be submitted during open expression of interest (EOI) rounds, opportunities will be announced as they become available.

Yes. If you submitted an application for a previous EOI round and were unsuccessful, you will need to submit a new application. Your previous application cannot be considered.

You will need to complete the online EOI form and provide a letter of support from your employer at your principal place of practice.

The letter must be on pharmacy letterhead and confirm the business owner's commitment to enabling your attendance at training sessions and supporting expanded scope of practice service provision, including availability of a fit for purpose consultation room and current pharmacy accreditation.

No. Subsidies are offered to individual applicants and cannot be transferred to another person. If you are unable to accept your subsidy, notify the Office of the Chief Pharmacist as soon as possible at Health.CommunityPharmacyInitiatives@sa.gov.au.

To be eligible for the subsidy, courses must be approved and eligible for subsidy at the time of your enrolment. Additional courses will be assessed in the future; you may choose to decline your subsidy and reapply in future rounds if your chosen course is not currently approved.

You should enrol in an SA Health approved training course as soon as possible as training places are limited. Training providers manage their own enrolment processes and capacity. Although you have been offered a subsidy, enrolment is not guaranteed and depends on provider availability.

The subsidy partially offsets enrolment fees for a SA Health-approved training course. The subsidy you receive depends on your primary practice location under the Modified Monash Model.

• Modified Monash Model categories 4 to 7: $8.500

Yes. If you withdraw from the course or do not to successfully complete it within 18 months of commencement, you will need to repay the training subsidy.

No, the training subsidy is to reimburse individuals (not businesses). To ensure compliance for taxation purposes, you will need to provide your personal bank account details (not pharmacy/business) for the direct recipient of the training subsidy.

You will need to provide official evidence that you have enrolled in a SA Health-approved course and that you have paid the course fees.

Evidence of enrolment should confirm that the enrolment process has been completed and include your name, the name of the training provider and the training course (e.g. record of study, confirmation of studies letter).

Evidence of payment of your course enrolment fees must be official documentation which clearly demonstrates the transaction has been completed (e.g. official receipt, invoices marked as ‘paid’ or payment confirmation documents).
