Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Bargaining 2020

Salaried medical officers within the South Australian public sector are currently covered by the South Australian Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2017 which contains a range of conditions including hours of work, professional development, salaries and allowances, leave provisions, and other work-related conditions and arrangements. The South Australian Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2017 nominally expired on 22 December 2020.

Negotiations for a new Enterprise Agreement to replace the current SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2017 have commenced between the South Australian Salaried Medical Officers Association (SASMOA), Industrial Relations and Policy Branch of the Department of Treasury and Finance (IRAP, DTF) and SA Health.

These discussions are being led by IRAP, DTF (as the declared employer) and informed by representatives from our Local Health Networks (LHNs) and the Department for Health and Wellbeing.

Some of the key themes for discussion which have been informed by the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption’s Troubling Ambiguity report include:

  • Managerial structures;
  • Job planning;
  • Rostering; and
  • Professional Development.

Future meetings will now focus on progression of these themes, and key themes put forward by SASMOA.

These discussions will be guided by principles of fairness, accountability and the ability to provide efficient, effective public health services and contemporary managerial structures that enhance decision-making capabilities across all levels of our LHNs.

Further updates will be provided as negotiations continue to ensure all SA Health salaried medical officers have access to the latest information available.
