Providing end-of-life care can be made more difficult during this time, and our palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic page provides guidance to best manage your patients and support their families.
A statewide Palliative Care COVID-19 Response Group comprising clinicians across the public and private health systems was established. The response group provided means to raise, discuss, escalate and resolve palliative care issues impacted by COVID-19. The group considered patient, community and staff welfare in the provision of palliative care.
The Report from the Palliative Care COVID-19 Response Group (PDF 584KB) highlights both the initiatives undertaken for the provision of palliative care for terminally ill COVID-19 patients and their families, and the ongoing provision of safe pre-existing palliative care service delivery in the acute and community settings.
The Network Steering Committee has a diverse group of members including consumers, private and public sector clinicians, representatives from Non-Government Organisation, Aged Care and peak bodies. The committee provides oversight to, and support of, the Clinical Network in both identifying and addressing key system priorities related to the Clinical Network as well as acting a conduit for information sharing and decision making between the Clinical Network and the Commission.
