Alcohol

There are harms associated with drinking too much both on a single occasion and over a lifetime. These can be serious and even life threatening.

National guidelines recommend that you have no more than four standard drinks on a single occasion to reduce your risk of an alcohol related injury.

The purpose of this section is to:

  • provide information about alcohol and its harmful effects
  • outline methods for addressing alcohol misuse, including types of services and treatments available
  • present relevant information for specific audiences including parents and young people
  • assist health practitioners with procedures and tools for working with clients with alcohol-related issues.
