Surrogacy

Surrogacy (involving assisted reproductive treatment) may now be undertaken in South Australia according to strictly defined, prescribed conditions under recognised agreements. This is legislated under the Statutes Amendment (Surrogacy) Act 2009.

The Act is the responsibility of the Attorney-General and amends the Family Relationships Act 1975, the Birth Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1996 and the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 1988.
