Day Rehabilitation Service - 4th Generation Clinics

The 4th Generation Clinics' Day Rehabilitation Service (DRS) offers centre based rehabilitation at the Repatriation General Hospital (RGH). Day Rehab provides goal directed rehabilitation by a specialised team of health professionals. We offer integrated programs with access to a range of areas which can include:

  • rehabilitation medicine
  • physiotherapy
  • occupational therapy
  • speech pathology
  • exercise physiology
  • psychology
  • dietetics
  • social work
  • geriatricians

Rehabilitation streams 

A rehabilitation specialist will recommend a 'rehab stream' which focuses on people's individual needs. The specialist and their team monitor progress and our streams include:

  • neurological
  • complex neurological
  • falls, fracture, frailty
  • amputee

Rehabilitation therapy

Therapy can occur between two and five times a week and sessions can last for up to three hours. Rehabilitation therapies include:

  • hydrotherapy
  • gym and circuit training
  • individual and group therapy sessions
  • use of robotics and other specialised equipment
  • spasticity management

Eligibility

People using our services need to:

  • have a doctor's referral
  • be aware of and consent to the referral
  • have clear multi-disciplinary goals and be motivated
  • have sufficient memory and reasoning to participate
  • be medically stable and able to tolerate regular travel to RGH
  • have someone available to help with personal care during sessions if needed.
