Medical Ambulatory Care Service (MACS)

Mental Health 

The Repatriation General Hospital (RGH) Mental Health services, including acute care, rehabilitation and recovery services for veterans and older people have relocated across the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. 

Older Person's Mental Health

Southern Mental Health Services for Older People (SMHSfOP) is a community based service that cares for and manages the mental health of people over 65 and for Aboriginal people over 45.

SMHSfOP also provides an inpatient service in the new Older Persons' Mental Health Unit located at Flinders Medical Centre. The unit cares for older people experiencing mental health issues that require hospitalisation.

Referral:  GPs, specialists and health professionals

Veterans' Mental Health

Outpatient services include:

  • Veteran Mental Health Rehabilitation (VMHRU) -  therapeutic group programs and individual brief therapies for veterans and their families
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Program (PTSD) - 8 week program to help veterans, their families and emergency personnel manage PTSD 
  • Consultant/registrar appointments  

RGH offers an inpatient service (Ward 17) which cares for veterans experiencing acute mental health issues that require hospitalisation and offers a consultation liaison service.

Location: RGH, adjacent the Springbank Café and the Rehab C building

Hours: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Friday

Referrals: GPs, specialists and health professionals

Note: Veterans and their families can self refer to PSTD programs.
