Accommodation and travel at Modbury Hospital
For patients and visitors needing accommodation there are many suitable choices close to the hospital.
The Torrens Valley International Residence situated in the grounds of Modbury Hospital has 284 single rooms and offers clean, secure, accommodation at affordable rates. The accommodation is available to patient’s families, SA Health staff and international and local students.
Lounge, kitchen, laundry and share segregated bathroom facilities are available. A security system is in place which provides a safe and secure environment for residents to live. The residence is adjacent to Tea Tree Plaza Shopping complex and the Tea Tree Plaza interchange, which connects the accommodation to Adelaide’s O-Bahn. The O-Bahn offers a hassle free trip into the city on a designated bus route, free from the congestion of city streets – direct to all tertiary campuses. It is also a pleasant five minute walk to the Torrens Valley Institute, Tea Tree Gully Campus and other tertiary campuses are easily accessible. Recreational facilities are located nearby with a full size tennis court on site.

Free short-term drop off/pick up areas are available at the main doors of Modbury Hospital and the Emergency Department.
Parking is available onsite and rates are payable by the hour, starting at $2.50 for the first hour. The full day rate (8 hours or more) is $13.00.
People visiting the hospital for frequent or lengthy visits can buy a discounted weekly ticket for $38.00, which equates to $5.40 per day.
If you are a volunteer or have to attend the hospital for frequent, clinical reasons you can apply for a fee exemption.

The hospital is highly accessible by bus and is a 10 minute walk to the Tea Tree Plaza Interchange and O-Bahn. A number of dedicated bus stops are located on Smart Road outside the hospital and are serviced by a large number of bus routes.

A free telephone is available at the enquiries counter between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm to call for taxis.
If patients are transported to or from hospital by ambulance, or between hospitals at their request, they will be responsible for payments of any SA Ambulance Service accounts for transport.
You can only leave hospital by ambulance if it is medically recommended by your doctor.
Please plan ahead and make private arrangements for your trip home if you are well enough to travel by car or public transport.
The Red Cross may be able to help patients who are registered with the Red Cross transport service.
Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS)
The Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) provides some financial reimbursement to country patients and approved escorts with the cost of travel and accommodation when they are required to travel over 100 kilometres (each way) to receive specialist medical treatment that is not available at their nearest centre.
