Women & Children Services at Flinders Medical Centre
Flinders Women & Children offers a comprehensive health care service for women, babies and children.
Women choosing to have their babies at Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) will find our staff friendly and supportive. FMC has received Baby Friendly Accreditation from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF. We support women in their choice to give birth in either the Birthing & Assessment Suite or with Southern Midwifery Group Practice.
The Neonatal Unit is one of only two services in South Australia to offer neonatal intensive care. We care for babies with high needs, offering 'technology with a human face'. FMC is the only hospital in South Australia with intensive care for both mothers and babies.
Children needing hospital care have access to specialist paediatric services. We understand that family and friends are the most important people in children’s lives and that they offer unique and valuable support to children in hospital.
We offer a comprehensive range of gynaecological services, and provide advice on all areas of female and reproductive health.
In partnership with Flinders University, we support teaching and research relevant to the health of women and children. This ensures that medical, nursing and allied health staff develop excellent academic and practical skills
We work closely with:
- Community-based general practitioners (GPs) and specialists
- Noarlunga Hospital
- GP Plus services at Aldinga, Noarlunga and Marion
- Women’s and Children’s Hospital
