Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Services at Flinders Medical Centre
The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) has its main site at Flinders Medical Centre, with additional clinics and operating lists at Noarlunga Hospital. The service provides expertise to patients of the southern districts of Adelaide and South Australia.
Specialist Plastic Surgeons work within SALHN, assisted by procedural doctors specialising in skin cancer assessment and excisions. There are specialist nurses for Wound Care, Breast Reconstruction and Hand Surgery.
The Department is active in clinical research and is accredited for advanced training of plastic and reconstructive surgery registrars with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Note: Emergency referrals can be made 24 hours a day to the on call plastic surgery registrar via the FMC switchboard ((08) 8204 5511).
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service prides itself on having a patient-centred approach and has several initiatives measuring patient-reported outcomes in the clinics. There are also consumer forums in the areas of breast reconstruction and hand surgery.
The service holds monthly audits to examine outcomes, complications and utilization and welcomes any feedback from referring doctors, which should be addressed to the Head of Unit.
