Accident and emergency

There is 24-hour accident and emergency coverage provided by nurses on site, with general practitioners on call.

Chemotherapy

You can now receive low risk chemotherapy treatment in Wallaroo under the care of your Oncologist based at the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
Wallaroo Chemotherapy Unit services include:

  • Coordination of your cancer care which can help you navigate the health system.
  • Low risk chemotherapy treatment including oral chemotherapy and intravenous infusion treatments in the chemotherapy unit or via slow release pumps.
  • Access to Digital Telehealth Network equipment so you can have follow-up appointments with your Oncologist without the need to travel.
  • Non-chemotherapy infusion centre services including pump disconnects, PICC and Port flushes, blood transfusions referred from any source

Aboriginal health team

HACC and Community Aged Care packages are provided to Aboriginal people in the community to assist with home care and support, personal care assistance and home-delivered meals to enable older people to remain living at home. Narungga Elder Care covers the whole Yorke Peninsula with clients currently living in Port Victoria, Point Pearce, Maitland, Moonta and Wallaroo.

The Aboriginal health team works with local Aboriginal communities to improve their health and well being. They advise, inform and refer to mainstream services. They also provide health screening, diabetes care, counselling, and assist health workers to understand the needs and culture of the Aboriginal community.

Maternity and obstetrics

Gynaecologist and obstetrician services are available. A shared care arrangement with general practitioners and community midwives assists women with care and treatment before, during and after childbirth.
