Jamestown Hospital and Health Service provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to outpatients and aged care beds.

Patients may commence their stay at Jamestown Hospital and Health Service but finish their care at one of the neighbouring hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required. All hospitals in the region work collaboratively to support the patient care needs.

Theatre upgrade

The Jamestown Hospital theatre is being upgraded, to provide a modern space for patients requiring surgery in the Yorke and Northern region.

Upgrades to the theatre include:

  • interior refurbishment including new wall surfaces, floor coverings and door frames

  • relocation of scope sterilizing processing including new stainless steel benches

  • new waiting room and pre-operative areas

  • upgrade to the existing scrub area

  • new stainless steel storage racks.

To accommodate the building works, the theatre will be closed, with a reopening date in late July.

Should a patient require emergency surgery or obstetric services during the theatre closure period, they will be assessed and transferred to an appropriate facility as per current practice.
