AUSMAT

The Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) SA incident response team is a group of health professionals including doctors, nurses and paramedics as well as non-health members such as fire fighters, police and logisticians.

AUSMAT teams can be deployed to a disaster area/mass casualty incident (MCI) on short notice to supplement the local response if it has been overwhelmed or rendered inoperable due to an incident. The response may be to a disaster/MCI within the state or a national or international incident. All staff deployments are voluntary.
