A healthy investment in SA Ambulance Service
For many people, their patient journey starts with an emergency situation where an ambulance is called. The skills and expertise of SA Ambulance Service’s highly trained paramedic clinicians are vital in assessing and caring for patients in emergency situations, and ensuring patients go directly to the right hospital for their condition.
In 2014, the State Government committed $16 million to employ 72 additional paramedics and support staff, expand the ambulance fleet by 12 vehicles and increase and expand metropolitan ambulance stations.
This investment includes building two new ambulance stations to service growing communities in the West and North, in addition to the new station completed in Noarlunga in 2016, boosting response times in those areas.
A new $12 million Rescue and Retrieval Aviation Service is also being built at Adelaide Airport, providing an all-encompassing hub for provision of emergency medical retrieval services. Construction is due for completion at the end of 2017.
A new multi-million dollar ambulance station will be built in the heart of Adelaide’s western
suburbs. The state-of-the-art facility will be located on Morphett Road adjacent the Morphettville Racecourse and manned around the clock by highly skilled paramedics. With direct access to Morphett Road and close proximity to Anzac Highway, the new station will boost response times in all directions.
It will include modern staff accommodation, training facilities, off-site car parking and an
expansive garage to house seven ambulances and two light vehicles.
Construction on the new station is due to start in October 2017 with completion due in late 2018. The expansive site also provides an opportunity for future expansion of the facilities.

The world-class station will include modern staff accommodation, training facilities, fully-fitted staff kitchen and modern amenities such as shower facilities.
The new station will garage up to 13 ambulances and five light fleets. It will have capacity for 54 staff carparks, including two disabled carparks.
Construction on the new station is expected to start early 2018 with completion expected late next year.
A new $5.3 million fit-for-purpose ambulance station in Noarlunga was opened in 2016 in a major boost to the growing southern suburbs. The Noarlunga Ambulance station is located opposite Noarlunga Hospital between Beach Road and Alexander Kelly Drive in Noarlunga.
As the new regional headquarters for the south and the largest station in South Australia, the station provides an additional 24/7 emergency crew and can house up to 13 ambulances and five light fleet vehicles.
The central location will lead to improved response times, with easy access to Beach Road, the Southern Expressway, Dyson and Main South Road.
50 operational and administrative staff operate from the state of the art building, which includes training and study facilities, ergonomic work stations, a kitchen and crew room, 12 individual rest rooms, bike storage and car parking.
