If you are a member of the SA Health workforce you will need to register for an Athens username and password to access the electronic resources.
Important information: If you have already registered with your library in SA Health, your username and password is still valid and you will not need to register again.
Athens is a single logon system for information resources for which access licences have been purchased. It is used worldwide and has a reputation for security and reliability.
After registration and authorisation, your username and password will be emailed to you.
Once received you can start using your logon details to access databases, electronic books (e-books) and electronic journals (e-journals).
In some cases the answer is yes.
Some publishers do not put the Athens logon in a very obvious place. Sometimes you have to look for the Athens logon option.
Some databases that previously did not require you to enter logon details will need your Athens logon.
Athens simplifies the authentication process and provides reliability for access to a range of resources. The logon acts as a personal account which can be used for many resources.
Once you have logged onto Athens, you will stay logged onto Athens until you:
