SA Health’s Blood, Organ and Tissue Programs is responsible for strategic oversight of the organ and tissue sector within South Australia.
Our role is to lead strategic direction, policy and planning, in regard to the donation and transplantation of organs and tissue, to ensure best possible outcomes for all South Australians.
The Unit relies on the expert advice offered by the South Australian Transplantation and Organ Donation Advisory Council (SATODAC), which has clinical oversight of the organ and tissue donation and transplantation sector in South Australia.
DonateLife in SA, formerly the South Australian Organ Donation Agency, coordinates all organ and tissue donor activities across the State. For more information on organ and tissue donation, please visit the DonateLife in SA website.
The Australian Organ and Tissue Authority was established in 2009 to support the Commonwealth Government’s World’s Best Practice Approach to Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation Reform Package. The Authority works in partnership with all State and Territory Governments and with members of the Organ and Tissue Donation sector to ensure a convergence of policy and practice across Australia on organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
