Workshop aim

This workshop aims to provide participants with an overview and understanding regarding the function that sleep has in promoting and maintaining our mental health and wellbeing.

The workshop will look at some of the common sleep disorders that we experience; how mental illness especially depression and anxiety can impair our sleeping patterns; neurological influences and brain discoveries; treating sleep problems and tips on better sleep.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the workshop participants will have an increased understanding of the:

  • role that sleep plays in protecting our mental health and wellbeing
  • availability and effectiveness of treatments
  • role that our brains play in aiding or impairing sleep
  • impact(s) of sleep disorders on our everyday performance and lifestyle.
