Non-Violent Crisis Intervention: Preventing and de-escalating aggressive behaviour refresher training course

This program is a ½ day workshop for those who have completed a 1 day course in The Non-Violent Crisis Intervention® program, developed by Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI). This course will assist you to apply the principles from the one day course to your work environment, including how to respond effectively to the warning signs that someone is beginning to lose control and how staff can deal with their own stress, anxieties, and emotions when confronted with these challenging situations.
This program has been designed to concentrate on prevention, de-escalation, and the breakaway principles to assist staff to respond early to a potential crisis. Participants will develop a clear process of interventions to assist in preventing an escalation of anxiety and aggression as well as develop and understanding of the impact their responses can have on a potentially aggressive incident.
Workshops may have a focus on either in-patient or community settings, with a variety of accompanying strategies for improving consumer pathways being included. This may include sensory modulation, prevention plans, strategies for safer home visiting, legislative issues etc.
