Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Care Pathway
The SA Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Care Pathway aims to optimise the outcomes for 15 to 25 year olds in South Australia with a cancer diagnosis.
Like the other cancer care pathways it looks at the entire cancer journey.
A multi-disciplinary approach is taken not only to medical diagnosis-related needs but also to the particular psychosocial needs of this age group.
Involvement of the AYA cancer service health professionals with young people and their families is central to the pathway and young people living with cancer have been consulted through the pathway development.
Further information for health professionals and young people effected by cancer and their families can be found at the National Youth Cancer Fund.
This is a $30 million program to improve the lives of young people with cancer. A portion of this money has been allocated to jointly implement services in South Australia and Northern Territory.
