Emergency services careers

SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) and MedSTAR Emergency Medical Retrieval Service operate throughout South Australia.

The South Australian Ambulance Service (SAAS) is the ambulance service licensed to provide emergency ambulance services to the community of South Australia. SAAS’s mission is to save lives, reduce suffering, and enhance quality of life by providing a high standard of accessible and responsive patient care and transport.

SAAS operates from 100 stations in country and metropolitan areas across South Australia and is staffed by both career and volunteer ambulance officers.

Paramedics and Intensive Care Paramedics (ICPs) work in an autonomous environment where they are taught to use their knowledge and skills to apply an appropriate level of treatment to patients. Their clinical practice guidelines provide a range of options for treatment that is tailored to a patient’s specific needs.

SA Ambulance Service is a leader in clinical care and paramedic training and is among the best in the country providing state-of-the-art emergency care. Our people are the driving force behind the success of the SA Ambulance Service and we foster a team-oriented and professional working environment.
