Each Clinical Practice Improvement (CPI) course runs over a six-month period and includes three face-to-face learning sessions including:
A clinical practice improvement project is an essential part of the program and enables the participants to apply their learning in their own work place.
Participants undertake monthly teleconferences and are assigned local facilitators to support them throughout their projects.
To receive a certificate, participants need to demonstrate in the final session that they have used clinical practice improvement methods to initiate improvement.
The project does not need to be completed, but significant progress must be presented.
Success with CPI is dependent upon choosing the right person, the right project and having the strong and active support of the health region’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or senior executives.
This support includes ensuring participants have easy access to email and internet, plus ongoing support from previous participants or senior management.
