Clinical practice improvement

The Clinical Practice Improvement (CPI) program is an established and successful training program for clinicians and clinical leaders.

Clinical practice improvement provides specific training in:

  • quality improvement methodology
  • leadership
  • team work
  • evidence-based medicine
  • change management.

The application of these skills in the clinical setting improves patient care and provides benefits to your unit.

Clinical practice improvement draws on a continually developing field of knowledge from many disciplines, including information from centres of excellence in health care improvement across the world.

The basic principles of clinical practice improvement are to provide:

  • individuals who work in the system with profound knowledge of the process of care
  • benefits (PDF 92KB) to your unit, department and for yourself
  • improvements to care processes requiring the application of a systemic improvement process and includes teamwork, change-management techniques and creative thinking
  • health care processes which can be analysed and measured.

Two CPI courses will be run in 2012:
