Review of Non-Hospital Based Services
SA Health’s response to the independent Review of Non-Hospital Based Services (PDF 165KB) led by Warren McCann from the Office of Public Employment and Review has been released.
The Review provided a range of new recommendations relating to Youth Primary Health Services, Women’s Primary Health Services, Health Promotion Services and the Aboriginal Workforce Initiative, which were released for a nine week public consultation period.
The feedback from over 270 submissions included comments, opinions and suggestions from staff, unions and the public which have all helped to inform our response to the recommendations.
The majority of recommendations will be implemented as proposed, while others will require further consideration and consultation to determine the most appropriate response.
The supported recommendations include:
- developing a single integrated metropolitan youth primary health service targeting vulnerable youth.
- developing a single integrated metropolitan women’s primary health service targeting high need vulnerable groups.
- consolidation of the Aboriginal Workforce Initiative.
- the transition of some health promotion programs, such as Community Foodies, to other service providers like non-government organisations who are better placed to deliver these programs.
There will be no change to Children’s Primary Heath Services and Child Protection Services at this stage, however a comprehensive review will be undertaken in the future.
