Meningococcal case April

A case of invasive meningococcal disease has been notified in a 39-year-old man from metropolitan Adelaide. The man has been admitted to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The meningococcal strain has been identified as serogroup B.
There have now been seven cases of invasive meningococcal disease reported in South Australia this year, compared to six cases recorded at the same time last year.
Three of these bases have been B strain, two have been W strain and two have been Y strain.
