A case of
The strain has been identified as serogroup B.
SA Health has identified multiple people who had contact with the patient, and four close contacts have been directed to receive clearance antibiotics.
Meningococcal health information has been distributed to contacts in accordance with the Invasive Meningococcal Disease Communicable Diseases Network Australia: National Guidelines for Public Health Units.
There have been 24 cases of
Of the 24 cases, 20 have been serogroup B, three serogroup W, one serogroup Y.
No links have been established between this case and other recent cases.
People are reminded that free meningococcal B vaccinations are now available for children aged between six weeks and under four years of age.
