Professional Leadership Network
A Nursing and Midwifery Professional Leadership Network (PDF 223KB) is integral to supporting the delivery of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Commitment 2016 - 2018 (PDF 77KB).
The Network has been established to provide connectivity across the nursing and midwifery professions within SA Health.
This Network provides a vehicle for nurses and midwives to be active in shaping the future direction of the professions; it also assists in ensuring that the voice of nursing and midwifery is heard.
The Network enables nurses and midwives to have a real influence in the decision making that occurs and supports nurses and midwives in having a collegial approach to what we do, guaranteeing that our practice remains grounded in keeping the consumer at the heart of all we do to ensure Best Care, First Time, Every Time.
The Professional Leadership Network consists of the following four (4) key bodies:
Meets monthly with a membership consisting of the Local Health Network Executive Directors of Nursing and Midwifery, the Principal Nursing and Midwifery Advisor, and the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (Chair).
Meets quarterly and has over thirty (30) members consisting of Level 5 and 6 nurses and midwives.
3) Nursing and Midwifery Advisory Forum
Meets quarterly and has over fifty (50) members consisting of Level 2, 3 and 4 nurses and midwives.
4) Nursing and Midwifery Communities of Practice
The Nursing and Midwifery Communities of Practice are to be established in recognition of the concept of the Network and to maximise the capacity for and involvement of nurses and midwives in innovating for and participating in change.
The members of the Network comprise of SA Health nurses and midwives from a range of different care, and organisational environments.
