2017 Health Advisory Council Combined Conference
Engagement and collaboration
Country Health SA hosted the 2017 Health Advisory Council Conference on 13 and 14 June at the Stamford Plaza Hotel (Tuesday) and the Education Development Centre (Wednesday).
The conference’s theme of engagement and collaboration was seen throughout the program.
The Tuesday evening session started with a Welcome to Country followed by a presentation by Country Health SA’s Aboriginal Health Directorate on their upcoming Aboriginal Youth Engagement Strategy. The presentation introduced some Young Aboriginal Health Ambassadors and discussed the role the youth had in informing the strategy.
The new Partnership Framework for Health Advisory Councils and Country Health SA was launched on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s program included an opening address by Maree Geraghty, CEO Country Health SA and a special address by Vickie Kaminski, CE SA Health.
In the spirit of collaboration, the program included many interactive workshops and hands-on breakout sessions.
Wednesday sessions included a workshop for the SA Health Strategic Plan 2017-2020, keynote addresses from Hon. Jack Snelling M.P. Minister for Health and Hon. Leesa Vlahos M.P. Minister for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, a workshop on Country Health Connect and a Q and A session.
This year optional breakout sessions were introduced, covering the Health Performance Council, General Hospitals, HACs and local government (engagement examples), Primary Health Networks, Media for HACs and HAC promotions in practice.
