Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Unit (EMU) provides strategic leadership and direction for the Department for Health and Ageing’s role in responding to major incidents, emergencies and disasters that may occur in within South Australia and national or international incidents. 

The unit is responsible for the development and implementation of the Health and Medical Functional Service Plan in participation with multi-agency exercises. 

The unit is also responsible for implementing the national and state emergency management agenda within the SA Health system including the development of disaster plans and implementation of education and training programs.

The unit coordinates and deploys the South Australia Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) to assist with national or international incidents.
